Finance & Budget
The Pike Animal Shelter's financial plan and budget are based on the shelter's business plan.
Nonprofit Status
The Pike Animal Shelter is administered by the Troy Animal Shelter Coalition, Inc. a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Use of Funds Philosophy
The Pike Animal Shelter, as well as the Troy Animal Shelter Coalition, Inc., benefits no one other than the animals in need. A conflict of intestest policy prevents the personal interests of any individual, business or organization from interfering with the building of the shelter.
Funds raised are safely invested in an interest-bearing account, and event and program expenses are held to a minimum (and often simply paid as out-of-pocket expenses by volunteers).
Financial records are available for inspection.
Construction Estimate
The estimated cost of construction of the shelter facility is based on national shelter facility recommendations as well as sample quotes from regional shelters, veterinarian surveys, local development and construction advice, and more.
The Pike Animal Shelter is intended to be a long-term, sustainable facility with appropriate, modern kennel construction materials and design. The estimated cost of the facility is $500,000. Contributions of labor, material, and expertise, as well as fundraising, will be used toward meeting this goal.
Balance
As of Jan. 1, 2010, the TASC/Pike Animal Shelter has a balance of approximately $85,000. In addition, the Shelter has received donations of two acres of land for the shelter and a dog park in the heart of the community at 800 Henderson Highway in Troy, Ala. near KW Plastics and Pike Equipment Rentals.
